The age of men and women, education of men and women, type of family of women, occupation of men and women, annual income of men, land holding of man, farming experience of men and women, social participation of men and women, innovativeness of men and women, training received by men and women, economic orientation of men and women, scientific orientation of men and women, risk orientation of men and women, management orientation of men and women, progressivism of women and achievement orientation of men and women, had highly significant correlation with their involvement in paddy cultivation while, progressivism of men was found significant with their involvement in paddy cultivation. Incase of annual income and land holding of women had negative but highly significant association with their involvement in paddy cultivation. However, age of men and training received and education of women were found significant. Incase of family type of men, annual income of women and land holding of women was negative but significantly associated with their involvement in sugarcane cultivation.Keywords

The problem refers to the item of difficulty perceived by gender that had carrying out the paddy and sugarcane crops cultivation. Many improved crops cultivation technologies were evolved but due to certain reason farmers are not able to perform it efficiently. Considering this as bottleneck, investigator had tried to find out the crusial problems which prevent the gender to perform various roles as well while taking decision in paddy and sugarcane crops cultivation. The various problems which faced by them were gathered from the respondents. The non-availability of labour in time was reported as major problem by men and ranked first followed by, non-availability of critical inputs got second rank, lack of security scored third rank, lack of skilled labour ranked fourth, extensive work load ranked fifth, unfavourable weather condition ranked sixth, lack of finance ranked seventh, lack of scientific knowledge ranked eighth, lack of moral support ranked ninth, lack of interest got tenth rank, lack of social support ranked eleventh, lack of confidence ranked twelfth, non-availability of implements in time ranked thirteenth and scarcity of irrigation and lack of foresight to conduct the operation ranked fourteenth. The present study was carried out during the year 2009-10 in Anand district of Gujarat state, to assess the extent of adoption of recommended production technology of potato by potato growers. The study revealed that majority of the potato growers belonged to medium level of adoption. Most of potato growers were found in non-adaptor category in respect of certain important items like chemical weed control and disease control. So as to enhance adoption, it is necessary to involve the farmers in extension education programme. It would facilitate the dissemination of recent technologies.Keywords

The present research on relationship between socio-economic characteristics of tomato grower was conducted in Nashik district of Maharashtra state. Seventy tomato growers were selected randomly from ten villages. The data were collected by personal interview technique from tomato growers with the help of structured interview schedule. Mostly respondents were found in medium age category, higher secondary education, medium farming experience, joint and large family, medium level economic motivation, scientific orientation and risk orientation as well as medium knowledge level. The relationship of selected characteristics namely age, type of family, land holding, economic motivation and knowledge level were found to be positively and significantly correlated with overall adoption of recommended practices of tomato.Keywords

Credibility refers to the trustworthiness of information sources as perceived by farmers is an important factor. The present study was conducted in two blocks of Nashik district of Maharashtra state to investigate the credibility of differnt information sources utilize by tomato growers. The present study revealed that the agri. input retailers perceived as most credible followed by social media/internet, agricultural consultant and agri. input company representative. On the other hand village level worker, co-operative society and government extension agencies were perceived as least credible sources.Keywords
